Installing the new Linn Krane Tonearm

Linn announced their new Krane tonearm last year, and we have had our first hands-on install.

Following the release of the revamped Majik DSM, an entry-level single-box player for music streaming, the Majik Sondek LP12 has been given a boost in performance with the Karousel bearing (more on this later) and the Krane tonearm.

About the Krane Tonearm
The Krane tonearm replaces the Majik tonearm manufactured by Jelco. Clearaudio, a German-based turntable manufacturer has partnered with Linn to manufacture the new Krane tonearm.

The new high performance Krane tonearm features a static-balanced design is hand assembled with high quality, precision aluminium and stainless-steel components. It includes a polished Tungsten and Sapphire vertical bearing with dual ceramic horizontal bearing assembly, both of which are long-lasting and provide very low friction/rotational mass.

This new LP12 owner has opted for the standard Majik LP12 with Linn’s Adikt moving magnet cartridge; A configuration with a clear upgrade path for future upgrades and more than enough performance to enjoy his vinyl collection.

The Krane tonearm is compatible with all Linn and most 3rd party cartridges and is currently only available in new Majik LP12s.

Upgraded Karousel Bearing Housing
All Sondek LP12 configurations come standard with the improved Karousel bearing, a precision-engineered that will significantly improve the music reproduction.

Looking back to the LP12’s history, the bearing housing was central in bringing the most out of vinyl. The Karousel continues Linn’s turntable story and innovations with “smoother rotation and greater stability”.

All Sondek owners can benefit from the Karousel, and is 'must-have upgrade for every LP12 owner'.
