The DV 20X2A phono cartridge is an entry-level model in the Dynavector MC cartridge series. Sharing the same base structure as the higher-end XX-2A and Te Kaitora Rua models, it features a solid aluminium alloy body, a hard aluminium cantilever, and a Micro-Ridge stylus tip.
The DV 20X2A is available in two types, allowing selection based on system compatibility. The 20X2A-L (low output model) delivers a standard MC cartridge output, while the 20X2A-H (high output model) is an MC cartridge designed to suit most MM inputs.
This cartridge is well suited for listeners seeking to explore the full potential of MC sound, as well as those looking to experience MC performance without the complexity of using an MC step-up transformer.
The high output 20X2A-H achieves an output voltage of 2.8mV, made possible by Dynavector’s renowned coil winding technology. By winding ultra-fine wire multiple times around the coil, the cartridge attains an output level equivalent to that of an MM cartridge. This allows connection directly to an MM phono input without requiring a head amplifier or step-up transformer.
The low output 20X2A-L produces a 0.3mV output voltage and uses the same PCOCC coil wire found in Dynavector's higher-end models. It is recommended for use with head amplifiers or MC step-up transformers that support a load impedance of 30 ohms or higher, ensuring compatibility with most such devices.
